    Kimball Union Academy Boys’ Soccer: Friendship, Tradition, Excellence
     
    The Kimball Union Academy boys’ soccer team competes against many of the top teams in the New England Class A and B Prep School Soccer Leagues. In the 2023 season, the team won the 2023 NEPSAC Class B Championship and clinched the Lakes Region League title for the third year in a row.
     
    The boys’ soccer program at KUA offers four competitive interscholastic teams. The varsity team traditionally boasts a diverse representation of players local to the school’s region and from around the globe. In the past 10 years, players have come to KUA from five African countries, six European nations, four Asian states, and six countries representing South and North America.
     
    Many of KUA’s former players have played and continue to play at many top DI, II, and III schools. Recent graduates have played at the following colleges and universities: Harvard, Dartmouth, North Carolina State, Hobart, Trinity, Bowdoin, St. Lawrence, Bates, and Wheaton.

    KUA got the maximum points against battling Phillips Exeter in an evenly contested game. Cabot McLaren broke lose on the right flank, releasing a pass for Shafi Ibrahim to finish in the box. Cabot then assisted Alex Pfeiffer, who took a 25-yard shot, beating an impressive Exeter goalkeeper. Jonas Rau made a perfect pass to Cabot to convert the third goal. Shafi Ibrahim had a hand in the fourth goal as he assisted Cabot. Hunter Nesbitt delivered a throw that Will Stedina completed to seal the game.

    Alex Pfeiffer broke out twice, only to be called back for offside. The Phillips Andover team kept putting pressure in search of goals. KUA made four mistakes, which the organized Andover capitalized on to seal the game.

    Shafi Ibrahim's day was cut short when he was red-carded against Worcester Academy. It was a late challenge on the goalkeeper that saw KUA reduced to ten-man. The scoreline does not do justice to the battle that dominated the game. With a player down, breaking down Worcester's defense that guarded their goalkeeper jealously would be difficult. KUA was forced to employ the 4-4-1 with Thatcher Bacon, Raphael Owusu, Andile Muhlauri, and Cabot making the midfield block. Alex Pfeiffer remained as the striker. Broodie Muyskens, Sixten Nowlan, Tyler Foster, and Baba played as the defense.

    Josh Hancock saved two penalties in a highly fast-paced physical game That saw members from each team bruised (Broodie Muyskens at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital, Alex Pfeiffer with his hand in a sling, and Andile Muhlauri with a suspected injured elbow). KUA came second. Cabot McLaren and Shafi Ibrahim had their names on the scoreboard. After relentless pressure from KUA, NMH put the game in the last few minutes of the game

    On Sunday, barely less than 16 hours after the previous game against Avon, KUA was tested by Nobles. The difference was in the first period, where KUA conceded two early goals before going toe to toe with Nobles, and Raphael Owusu grabbed one goal in the second period for KUA.

    Sixten Nowlan, Andile Muhlauri, and Tyler Foster were outstanding in defense, supported by the evergreen Cabot Mclaren and Raphael Owusu; KUA went down fighting against Avon in a tournament game. Along a run of play late in the night, a shot struck from 20 yards out was the difference.

    Cabot Mclaren and Shafi Ibrahim each grabbed a double, with Alex Pfeiffer and Noah Barret adding their names on the score sheet to register a win for KUA. Battling Cushing was the first to go on the scoreboard early in the first period, and KUA responded quickly.

    Shafi Ibrahim grabbed a hat-trick as KUA won against a battling Wilbraham & Monsoon Academy. Josh Hancock kept a clean sheet between the posts supported by Sixten Nowlan, Tyler Foster, Andile Muhlauri, and Broodie Muyskens.
