    Kimball Union Academy Boys’ Soccer: Friendship, Tradition, Excellence
     
    The Kimball Union Academy boys’ soccer team competes against many of the top teams in the New England Class A and B Prep School Soccer Leagues. The 2013 team’s success (winning the Lakes Region title and reaching the New England Class B Semifinal tournament), showcased the Wildcat’s soccer prominence in the region. Since winning the Class B New England title in 2007, the Wildcats have returned to the post season five of the following six seasons and have won the Lakes Region Soccer title five times.
     
    The boys’ soccer program at KUA offers four competitive inter-scholastic teams. The varsity team traditionally boast a diverse representation of players local to the school’s region and from around the globe. In the past ten years, players have come to KUA from five African countries, six European nations, four Asian states, and six countries representing South and North America.
     
    Many of KUA’s former players have played and continue to play at many top DI, II, and III schools. Recent graduates have played at the following colleges and universities: Harvard, Dartmouth, North Carolina State, Hobart, Trinity, Bowdoin, St. Lawrence, Bates, and Wheaton.

  • KUA Bow after double overtime penalty loss

    In an exciting NEPSAC playoff game, KUA eventually lost in penalties. Krists Putans, Lucas Vest, and Cabot McLaren converted the first three, with Sho Frazer crashing his against the post, and Rivers missed their fourth kick. That left teams even at 3-3 Upstepped GK Jake Maynes and converted his PK; Rivers converted their fifth, making it 4-4 after the first five takers. The penalties when to sudden death, and Rivers were on target, and Thatcher Bacon missed, and that sealed our fate.

    Krists Putans and Cabot McLaren scored a goal each as KUA made their bid clear on Lakes Region Championship. In a game where KUA needed nothing shot of victory to remain in the running

    KUA picked their second win over New Hampton after defeating them in the first game. This time on the road, Cabot McLaren scored a hat trick as Sho Frazer, and Lucas Vest grabbed one each to give Wildcats victory.

    Tinashe Muhlauri, Owen Lewis, Lucas Vest, Kris Putans, Henry Trimpi, and a double from Evan Crandlemire were all it took for KUA to subdue a battling Tilton. Jack Maynes, Leo Barta, and Zaid Hassan shared the posts, and none conceded a goal.

    Cabot McLaren, Sho Frazer, and Owen Lewis found back of the net and registered a home win. Jack Maynes recorded another shutout on his comeback after missing the two previous games due to injury.

    Jack Maynes kept a clean sheet as both teams ran out of time. The game ended nil as the KUA trainer Roy Scott got busy as players came out with different knocks. First, Lucas Vest had to leave the field followed by Cabot McLaren with an ankle issue; not far behind was Andile Muhlauri. The team had to dig deep into its depth. Henry Trimpe, Miles Pettit. Akram Abdukarimov, Maximo Loyo,  and Noa Barret battled hard but could not find the back of the net.

    A goal each from Krists Putans, Cabot Mclaren, and Sho Frazer were not enough to give the KUA a win. Leo Barta played his first game as a varsity goalkeeper and gave a good account of himself despite being beaten on six occasions.

    Barely 24 hours after Battling Cushing, KUA picked a win over a very disciplined and organized Wilbraham Monson. Sho Frazer scored two goals, and Krists added another. The WM defender added his own goal to the score sheet.

    Henry Trimpi, who stepped to guard the posts, was beaten once this was after KUA had taken the lead through Krists Putans.

    Krists Putans scored four goals, propelling KUA to a 6-2 win over well-organized and battling Pomfret. Cabot Mclaren was on hand to add two more goals before Pomfret fought back in the second period.

    Tinashe Muhlauri scored the solitary for KUA in a tightly contested game against  determined, and disciplined Western Reserve Academy.
  • KUA pick a W at Brewster

    KUA won against battling Brewster, who threw all they had into the game. Two minutes into the match Kriists Putans was assisted by Cabot McLaren. Lucas scored a second three minutes later. Cabot was not done in the game as he provided another assist for Tinashe Muhlauri in the 64th minute. Krists scored the fourth, assisted by Thatcher Bacon.
  • In an intense season opener against a solid and disciplined Rivers side saw Jack Maynes save a penalty and hit the crossbar from about 30 yards out when he stepped in to take a freekick in the dying seconds, and KUA went down to Rivers 0-1. Edward Marott
