  • Cushing pulls away the end to defeat the Wildcats 66-59

    The Kimball Union Wildcats returned to action after their holiday break to take on Class AA rival Cushing Academy at home today. In a hard fought battle the Wildcats fell short in the end losing by seven, 66-59. Kimball Union tied the game at 53 all with five minute to play only to run out of gas at the finish. Trey Parker had his best game of the season so far, hitting 5 out of 9 from behind the arc, finishing with 18 pts for the night. Enoch Cheeks scored 11 of his game high 19 points in the second half. The Wildcats return to action next Wednesday at Vermont Academy.

  • KUA bounces back from a loss to beat Beaver CD, winning 83-45

    The Wildcats redeemed themselves with a solid performance defeating Beaver Country Day School 83-45 to finish third in the Rivers Holiday Tournament today.  Shooting 1-10 from beyond the arc in the first half KUA took a five point lead into the locker room, 30-25.  They then exploded in the second half starting with a 16-0 run to put the game out of reach.  The Wildcats found their outside touch hitting 10 of 16 second-half three-point shots, scoring 53 points to win 83-45.  Enoch Ckeeks lead all scorers for the night with 30 pts.  Joining him in double figures was Jammy Pierre-Louis (18 pts)  and Jay Elmore (16pts).  The Wildcat take a 6-2 record into next week to finish out before the holidays.

    Playing in their second game of the day the Wildcats  took host Rivers down to the wire before losing 71-69 in the end.  Kimball Union had an early lead of ten cut to three at the half and then were exchanging the lead for much of the final stanza before Rivers hit four consecutive threes late in the game to pull ahead.   Jay Elmore, hitting 5 threes, was the game highscorer with 25 points, followed closely by Enoch Cheeks (23 pts), and Will Engelhardt (11pts).  The Wildcats will play Beaver Country Day School in the third place game tomorrow.

    Kimball Union played a strong  second half to defeat Salisbury in the opening round of the Rivers Holiday Tournament, 67-57.  Lead by Enoch Cheeks” game high 24 points and supported by Jay Elmore (14 pts) and Will Engelhardt (13 pts), the Wildcats push their record to 5-1.  A quick turn a round is required as they take on host Rivers School later tonight at 7:30.

  • KUA loses for the first time this seson 66-63 to Andover

     
    KUA's struggled to score today scoring 18 points in the first half to go down by eleven at the half and as many as 17 early in the second half.  From there they battled back to mke it  game at the end losing by three, 66-63.   EnochCheeks  scored 29 pts for the game to lead all KUA scorers; Jay Elmore and Jammy Pierre-Louis each had 10 pts to join him in double figures.  KUA's record now stands at 4-1 as they next travel to play in the Rivers Holiday tournament Dec 14-15.

    Jammy Pierre-Louis' 16 first half points started the Wildcats off on the right foot and Enoch Cheeks' 16 second half points helped seal the deal as Kimball Union defeated Williston today 71-59 at the Scholar Roundball Classic at Babson College.  KUA took a ten point lead into the locker room at the half, 40-30, survived an early run by Williston at the start of the second half to then build their lead back up to ten at the end.  Cheeks lead all scorers with 28 points; Pierre-Louis hitting five threes added 19 points, and Jay Elmore joined them in double figures with 13.  The Wildcats play their second game of the Classic tomorrow morning at 9:30 versus Andover Academy.

  • The KUA Wildcats outpace Exeter to win 70-48

    A solid team defensive performance by the Wildcats held Exeter to 20 first half points as Enoch Cheeks scored 27 of his game high 34 points in the first half to pace the Wildcats to a win over Exeter today, 70-47.  KUA lead 44-20 at the half and then cruised to the win.  Jay Elmore joined Cheeks in double figues with 11 points for the night.  KUA next plays Willliston on Saturday at Babson College.

  • KUA defeats Deerfield 75-62.

    Kimball Union Boys basketball team travelled to Deerfield to day and came away with a hard fought 75-62 victory. The Wildcats went up by 15 as the first half ended, 35-20, but had to survive a determined comeback by Deerfield in the second half as they cut KUA’s lead to three midway into the fourth quarter. Will Engelhardt hit two threes and went 9 for 10 from the foul line in the second half to help KUA preserve their win. Enoch Cheeks again lead KUA in scoring with 26 for the game. Jay Elmore went 5-7 from beyond the arc, scoring 19pts and Will Engelhart was close behind with 17. KUA returns to action on Wednesday playing at Exeter.

  • KUA wins home opener 102-76 over Bradford Christian Academy

    The Kimball Union Wildcats opened their season today with an entertaining win over Bradford Christian Academy 102-76. In a fast paced match KUA jumped out to an 8 point lead at the half 47-39 behind Enoch Cheek’s 20 first half points. Cheeks finished up the night with a game high 34 points. The Wildcats opened up their lead late in the second half hitting 9 of their 12 three pointers. Jay Elmore kicked in scoring 27 points and Will Engelhardt had a solid night at both ends of the court finishing with 22 points. Kimball Union returns to action on Saturday, travelling down to play at Deerfield Academy.
