Stephen Earle Colby

Stephen Earle Colby, age 81, passed away at his home in Lisbon on Saturday, January 27, 2018. He was born on October 22, 1936 in Lebanon, New Hampshire to Stanley and Dorothy (Buckley) Colby. He attended Stevens High School in Claremont and Kimball Union Academy in Meridan. He also attended University of New Hampshire of Durham for two years prior to enlisting in the U.S. Navy. Steve served four years as an Aviation Electronics Technician flying on a P-2 Neptune for VP squadrons based in Brunswick, Maine. On June 24, 1961, Steve married Carlene Lorraine McKay. Together, they had two sons, Bret and Todd. Steve was a banking professional having served in various positions and retiring as a Senior Vice President of Fleet Bank after 26 years of continuous service. Steve was active in the community, having been a member of the Littleton and Lisbon Lions Clubs, Lisbon Fire Department, and Lisbon Life Squad. He served on the Board of Selectmen for the town of Lisbon, the Lisbon School Board, the Lisbon Planning Board, and the Grove Hill Cemetery Association. Most recently, he served the community as a Justice of the Peace and Bail Commissioner. He was a member of the Lisbon Stump Jumpers, the National Rifle Association, and proudly served as a Coordinator for the VP-11 Neptune Association. Steve was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Carlene, sons Bret and wife Rea of Huntingtown, Maryland; and Todd and wife Leah of Ryegate, Vermont and five grandchildren Anthony, Lexy, Lilian, Andrew, and Aidan, and one great grandchild, Jacob. SERVICES -The family will greet friends at the Pillsbury Phaneuf Funeral Home, located at 101 Union Street in Littleton, New Hampshire on Friday, February 2nd from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 3rd, at 10am at the Pillsbury Phaneuf Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Stephen's memory to North Country Home Health and Hospice, 536 Cottage Street, Littleton, NH 03561.
