KUA Tops Deerfield in Game 2 of Flood-Marr

Junior Arlo Merritt scored the winning goal on a powerplay late in the second period and senior goalie Hugo Turcotte earned the win in net as the Kimball Union Wildcats hung on to beat Deerfield Academy 3-2 in the second game of the day at the Flood-Marr tournament in Milton, MA. KUA opened the scoring in the first when senior Logan Cash chipped in a loose puck from the slot. In the second, Deerfield tied the game on the powerplay before seniors Andranik Armstrong and Thomas Samuelson teamed up to give KUA the 2-1 when Samuelson one-timed a pass from Armstrong into the top corner. Merritt’s goal cam minutes later in the dying seconds of a KUA powerplay. Deerfield scored late to cut the lead to 3-2, but strong play from the senior defense pairing of Jordan Harris and Bryce Dolan helped preserve the KUA win.
