Arthur Louis Forziati

Arthur Louis Forziati died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on February 19th, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. He is predeceased by his father Dr. Alphonse, mother Wanda Forziati, and his sister, Amy Richard of Pocasset. Arthur was born on January 29th, 1939 in Belmont, Mass. He graduated from Belmont Hill High School and completed diverse undergraduate studies at Brown University and Boston University. Fluent in Italian and Spanish, Arthur taught language and a host of other curriculums at Kimball Union, his alma mater Belmont Hill, and other institutions. While many always considered him a teacher, Arthur abdicated academia in pursuit of a fruitful, self-taught career in home building and contracting. In this capacity, he literally changed the landscape of Cape Cod with his home designs and touched the lives of his customers and employees, many of whom became his dear friends.He served two terms as Commodore of the Sandwich Yacht Club and was often seen cruising the local waters of Buzzards Bay and the islands aboard the Starlight. Opera, classical music and cultural admiration were among the many topics which occupied his thoughts and conversations. He was a devotee of the daily crossword, an astute reader, and a proficient fisherman.Arthur is survived by his wife, Maureen, son Adam, canine companion Rudy, as well as brothers Carl and Conrad. Visitation will be held at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Boulevard in Bourne, Sunday, February 26th from 4 to 8 p.m. A 10 a.m. Mass will take place Monday, the 27th at St. John the Evangelist Church in Pocasset. Burial will follow in Cataumet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the MSPCA Animal Shelter of Centerville.
