Robert Nutting Bickford

Robert Nutting Bickford, 85, died after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease on December 10, 2014, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH. He was born on September 28, 1929, to Jason F. and Blanch (Nutting) Bickford, twin brother of Sylia "Bickie" Webster. He was the husband of Cynthia Ann (Martin) Bickford. They were married on April 25, 1959, in Nashua. Bob attended local schools and Kimball Union Academy where he graduated in 1948. He went on to Middlebury College for two years before enlisting in the US Air Force, where he served as a tail gunner during the Korean Conflict. Following his service he returned to Middlebury College, graduating in 1955. Bob spent the next year in Lincoln, NE, selling pianos and organs. He then returned to Nashua and worked as a third generation at Nuttings Music Store which he managed until his retirement and the sale of the business to Darrell's Music Store. In 1966, he and his wife, Cynthia, moved to the family homestead at 2 Columbia Ave. in Nashua, and also purchased a summer home in Moultonborough, NH, where the family spent many delightful summers. He was a lifetime resident of Nashua with the exception of three years he spent at the Arbors of Bedford. Upon his return to Nashua he joined the Nashua Country Club where he became a curler which he enjoyed and excelled at. Bob also loved music and joined the Nashua Granite Statesmen where he sang for 25 years and made many wonderful friends. Along with his wife of 55 years, Cynthia, he is survived by two daughters; Noel Rocha of Clear Lake, CA, and Holly County of Nashua, and three grandchildren.
