Robbins B. Smith

The family of Robbins B. Smith will be receiving friends in the Estero Room Saturday, September 14, 2019, from 2-4 pm. Robbins B. Smith was born 84 years ago in New Haven, CT, where his direct ancestors settled in 1639. He was raised in Unity, NH, on a dairy farm where he delivered milk door to door and made maple syrup. He graduated from Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, NH. He served in the U. S. Army and spent most of his enlistment in Germany. He held a BS and MS from the University of Connecticut, College of Agriculture, and was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho. He was the first teacher of Vo-Ag in Lebanon, CT, and advisor to the FFA. He spent most of his career with the Cooperative Extension Service serving as New London County 4-H Agent and then State 4-H Agent.

He enjoyed: woodworking, restoring VWs, and was an antique collector and dealer. He raised registered Shetland ponies, and grew Christmas trees and raspberries. He loved traveling, attending antique tractor shows, listening to music and reading. He has been an avid UConn Women's Basketball fan and attended many games even before they had a winning season. He was the proud father of Robbins (Clay) and wife Mary of Franklin, CT, and Mark and wife Kathy of Fort Myers. His sister Pat and husband Bill Lincoln live in Massachusetts and sister Anne Dessert lives in Arizona. His brother Frank A. Smith is deceased. He was married to Nancy for 58 years.

He will rest in the family plot at the Nut Plains Cemetery in Guilford, cr, with services at a later date at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be sent to
