2019 Commencement Exercises

On May 24, KUA celebrated its 203rd Commencement on the Bicentennial Quad. Other events included the Awards Ceremony, Baccalaureate Service, and Senior Performances.

The ceremony opened with the Invocation Prayer, this year shared between Ioherase Ransom and Reverend John Gregory-Davis P'08, '13, '17, followed by the welcome address from Interim Head of School Pam Clarke, the Valedictory Address from Julian Erhard '19, and the Class Speaker Address from Simon Pelzman '19. Longstanding Faculty member Cynthia Howe P'06, '14 introduced departing Head of School Mike Schafer H'13, P'12, '15, '19, who gave the Commencement Address. Following the awarding of Graduation Prizes, Trustee David Pond '64 awarded Pam Clarke an honorary Kimball Union diploma for her service to The Academy. A musical interlude followed as the Graduation Chorus, led by retiring faculty member Dalton Winslow P'12, '14, sang the Alma Mater. Pam Clarke then delivered the Charge to the Class and awarded diplomas to the 88 members of the Class of 2019. Reverend John Gregory-Davis delivered the benediction and the Class of 2019 tossed their hats in the air before recessing to "Dancing In The Moonlight" by King Harvest.
