4/24: KUA @ St. Paul's School
The Kimball Union Academy track team had a strong performance at the first meet of the season. The meet was hosted by St. Paul’s School and featured athletes from the following rival teams: St. Paul’s School, Pingree School, Proctor Academy, Holderness School, Dexter Southfield, and The White Mountain School.
The “Boys” 4 x 100 meter relay was run by Khang "Kevin" Tran, Hyun Jin “Gene” Chang, Declan Clark, and Julia Walton. They ran as a non- scoring exhibition team and their time was 57.32. Benjamin Conway raced to a seventh place finish in the Boys 1500 meter race with a time of 5:23.79. Hyun Jin “Gene” Chang raced to a fifth place finish in the Boys 400 meter race with a time of 1:15.49. Julia Walton secured a fifth place finish with a 1:07.37 in the Girls 400 meter race. In the Boys 100 meter race, Joshua Rizika ran a 14.36 (13th place) and Khang “Kevin” Tran ran a 14.67 (14th place). In the Girls 100 meter race, Aleena Masaeng ran 15.19, securing an overall 10th place finish. In the Boys 800 meter race, Hahmjun “Yohan” Do ran to a fifth place finish with 2:54.88. In the Boys 200 meter race, Joshua Rizika ran a 29.28 (8th place), Khang "Kevin" Trang ran a 31.69 (12th place), and Hyun Jin "Gene" Chang ran a 34.42 (14th pace). In the Girls 200 meter race, Julia Walton had a standout performance with her fifth place finish and her time of 30.95. Aleena Masaeng also did well in that race with a tenth place finish and a time of 32.02. She decidedly won her heat! Declan Clark ran to a third place finish in a time of 13:27.10 for the Boys 3000 meter run. The “Boys” 4 x 400 meter relay was run by Benjamin Conway, Hahmjun “Yohan” Do, Joshua Rizika, and Aleena Masaeng. They also ran this relay as a non- scoring exhibition team and their time was 4:58.30.
The team scoring went seven places deep with the following point designations in place order: 10,8,6,4,3,2,1.
The overall scoring in the Boys meet was as follows: St. Paul’s School (198), Pingree School (143), Proctor Academy (36), Dexter Southfield (27), The White Mountain School (12), Kimball Union Academy (11), and Holderness (1). Ben Conway earned 1 point in the 1500 meter run, Hyun "Gene" Chang earned 3 points in the 400 meter dash, Hahmjun "Yohan" Do scored 1 point on the 800 meter run, and Declan Clark earned 6 points in the 3000 meter run.
The overall scoring in the Girls Meet was scored as follows: St. Paul’s School (187), Pingree School (163), Proctor Academy (45), Dexter Southfield (33), Holderness (16),The White Mountain School (14), and Kimball Union Academy (6). Julia Walton earned 3 points in the 400 meter dash and 3 points in the 200 meter dash.
