Quiet Bats Hurt Wildcats

The Kimball Union Wildcats managed just one hit, a line drive by Olivia LaRose with two out in the fifth inning, and struck out 13 times in five innings in a lopsided loss to New Hampton on Wednesday at KUA. The game started well, as shortstop Chloe Rourke-Nicholas converted a double play to keep the game 0-0 after one inning. New Hampton managed one run in the second and the KUA outfield of Audrey Donahue, Maddy Haynes, and LaRose was stellar defensively. Taking a 1-0 lead into the third, New Hampton broke the game open with a four-run inning, followed by an eight-run fourth inning before putting up two more in the fifth. Casey McCauley and Kate Mackey shared the pitching duties for KUA, each striking out one batter.
