Strong Second Half

The Kimball Union Wildcats traveled to Wolfeboro, NH to play the Brewster Bobcats on one of the first warm days of spring. The Bobcats came out quick, earning 6 goals before the Wildcats could get on the board. Freshman Julia Walton scored the Wildcats first goal after earning the draw control at the center. Though the Bobcats answered back, freshman Caroline Sheehan was the next Wildcat to find the net with a strong drive through the arc. Walton scored the third goal of the half by driving around the circle and scoring off of a shovel shot. While the score was 9-3 at the half, the Wildcats had already drastically changed their game. The defensive line improved their crashing techniques making it harder for the Bobcats to score and giving sophomore Amelia Keith a better chance of making a save in the net. The defense was led by freshman Kate Rybakova, Sophie Schwartz, Ally Woo-Sam and Haely Callahan. Their persistence for interceptions, ground balls and defense kept the Wildcats in the game. The Wildcats continued to work together in the second half tying Brewster in goals 4-4. Freshman Helena Heckmann scored her first goal of the season with a quick stick off a pass from behind, Walton scored her third goal, and sophomore Ellie Stedina scored two goals. The team picked up 12 ground balls, Schwartz earning 3. Watson earned 5 draw controls for the day. Keith earned 4 saves in the net.
