Maddy Haynes had three hits, three runs scored, and five RBIs while Scout Beaupre and Audrey Donahue also scored three runs but the KUA Wildcats ultimately fell 12-11 to the Northfield-Mount Hermon Hoggers in the season opener on Wednesday. KUA was spurred by a six-run fourth inning, that included a bases-loaded, bases-clearing double by Haynes and RBI doubles by Beaupre and Olivia Larose. Casey McCauley went the distance on the mound for KUA while catcher Seana Perkins had a two-out RBI single in the top of the seventh to put KUA up by one. Taking an 11-10 lead into the bottom of the seventh, the Wildcats were within one strike of winning until a windswept fly-ball found its way onto the grass to give NMH the walk-off win.
