Boys Varsity Hockey wins Lakes Region Championship

Boys Varsity Hockey won the Lakes Region Chamionship for the second consecutive year on Saturday with a 6-2 victory over Tilton.

Tomas ‘20 scored a natural hat-trick and added two assists for a five-point night as the Kimball Union Wildcats captured the Lakes Region Championship with a 6-2 win over Tilton on Saturday in Meriden. After falling behind 1-0 early, KUA tied the game when Tomas scored on a one-timer from the left circle. In the second, with the game tied at one, Tomas tallied again on a nice feed from Sully ‘20 and yet again to complete the natural hat-trick when he converted on a powerplay minutes later. Sully then scored late in the second to give the Wildcats a 4-1 lead heading into the third, where seniors Kyle ‘19 and Arlo ‘19 scored before Tilton got one back late in the game. Veeti ’20 stopped 20 of 21 shots for KUA before giving way to Jonah ‘19, who stopped four of five shots.
 
With the victory, KUA is seeded #2 as they return to the NEPSAC Elite 8 Stuart/Corkery Tournament. They return to play in the quarterfinals at 4:30 on Wednesday against #7 The Gunnery at Keene State College.
