KUA Finishes Season on High Note with Victory over VA

The Wildcats capped their season with a gritty victory over Vermont Academy, 62-58. In a game when all KUA players--seniors Eli Jaynes, Noah Spaulding, Dan Salem, Dominick DaCruz, juniors Kelvin Zhang, Will Haynes, Owen Xu, sophomores Hill Carter, Jack Bolg, Roger Liu, Caleb Nadell, and ninth grader Charlie Creelman--saw action and contributed, the Wildcats overcame an early deficit and withstood a late VA charge to emerge victorious. Spaulding arguably played his finest game as a Wildcat and poured in an astounding 32 points (16 in each frame) and had a number of steals. His baskets were also timely as they frequently halted VA runs. Jaynes also led the offensive charge, particularly in the second half when he scored 9 of his 12 points. Carter (5 points) and Bolg (7 points) also had strong performances on the offensive and defensive ends. Next year, KUA will greatly miss the leadership of its seniors--Jaynes, Spaulding, Salem, DaCruz, and Simon Pelzman (who could not make the trip because of a college visit) and the Wildcats will need to find a way to fill the scoring void left by its leading scorers Jaynes and Spaulding, but the future is bright on the Hilltop with Zhang, Haynes, Xu, Carter, Bolg, Liu, Nadell, and Creelman all expected to assume greater roles next year.
