Wildcats win on senior day

After several weeks of frustratingly uneven play, the Wildcats finally put a complete game together, beating one of the strongest teams they faced all season. Sean Donoghue scored first mid-way through the first period, but then the Wildcats quickly faced a serious stress test. The officials called a total of seven penalties all game long, but four of the seven came in the form of two sets of double penalties against KUA late in the first period. KUA was able to kill off both of the 5 on 3 advantages Hillside had, and then Anthony Solt scored a great back-door goal on a powerplay early in the second to put KUA up by two. Jack Isabelle was outstanding in the KUA net, but Hillside was able to put two by him late in the second to set up a dramatic final period. Sean Donoghue scored his second of the night on an end-to-end rush just a minute into the period, and Cam Tucker fired the puck into Hillside’s open net in the final minute. This was a fitting last home game for Hayes Huwiler, Jeremy Sigl, and Jon Schafer, each of whom joined the team as a freshman, and for Cam Tucker who arrived on the hilltop as a sophomore.
