KUA Loses Heartbreaker to NMH on Senior Day

On Senior Day, KUA put forth one of their best performances of the season only to see their valiant effort fall short as they fell to NMH in heartbreaking fashion, 48-42. Seniors Eli "Mr. Fundamental" Jaynes, Noah "Handles" Spaulding, Simon "The Professor" Pelzman, Dan "The Enforcer" Salem, and Dom "Mr. Hustle" DaCruz all started and played valiantly in their final home game. After falling to NMH by 24 points earlier in the season, the Wildcats demonstrated how much they have improved during the encounter. Spaulding, who did not play in the first game, played one of his finest games of the year. He proved to be a true difference maker as he was able to break down the NMH pressure defense and also carried the first-half scoring load with 10 points (and a game-high 15 overall). The game was close throughout and KUA was able to make a run at the end of the first half to keep it close, 28-22, at the break. After a tough first half, Jaynes came on strong in the second frame with 8 points (11 overall). Playing in his final game due to a college visit, Pelzman helped carry the offense with 8 points, including a couple of acrobatic layups in traffic. Salem, DaCruz, who buried two clutch free throws in the waning moments, Jack Bolg, and Charlie Creelman also chipped in with 2 points apiece. Bolg, Creelman, and Kelvin Zhang provided some valuable minutes of the bench. Despite the loss, it was a great way to finish the year on their home court, especially after a 25-point drubbing against Cardigan Mountain School last week. On Saturday, the Wildcats head across the Connecticut and down Interstate-91 to face Vermont Academy in their final game of the year.
