Exeter 5 - KUA 3

KUA and Exeter traditionally play home and home each season – the contests are invariably exciting, and over the years the teams have almost always split the two. That happened again as KUA won a one-goal game in Meriden in January, but Exeter came out on top in the rematch. Exeter took an early two-goal lead, but defenseman Connor Chalmers scored on a blast from the point, and then the Wildcats tied things up when Hayes Huwiler and Cam Tucker brought the puck down and created so much pressure in front the of the Exeter net that an Exeter skater inadvertently kicked the puck into his own goal. Exeter responded with a goal, Andrew Hadlock scored on another great shot from the blue line, and the third period was an end-to-end battle. At the end of the game, the scoreboard reported that KUA had outshot Exeter 32 – 20, but two of Exeter’s late shots ended in the back of the net, and the game ended at 5 – 3.
