Valiant Effort Falls Short against Undefeated Proctor

In one of their best performances of the year, the KUA Wildcats ran out of gas against undefeated Proctor, 51-37.  With Proctor boasting former varsity players and another who is headed off to college to play basketball for Bard, the game was effectively a varsity-level affair, but KUA's never-say-die mentality kept the game close well into the second half.  Eventually, they ran out of gas and Proctor was able to pull away.

Though Proctor jumped out to a quick lead, two threes from Simon Pelzman and some free throws by Eli Jaynes allowed them to cut the Proctor advantage to one.  From there, the game was nip-and-tuck.  The Wildcats were led by Jaynes (16 points), Pelzman (12 points), and Noah Spaulding.  Were it not for some missed layups and threes that went in and out, the Wildcats probably would have staked to the lead at the half.  KUA also received strong performances from Jack Bolg (2 points) and Hill Carter as well as contributions from Kelvin Zhang and Charlie Creelman.  Bolg's defense and Carter's hard work on the glass were crucial elements to the team's success.

KUA's brutal schedule continues on Wednesday when it heads to Cardigan Mountain.
