Wildcats Come Back to Beat Andover

Down 4-3 heading into the third period, the Kimball Union Wildcats came back to top Phillips Andover 5-4 on Wednesday in Massachusetts. Senior Arlo Merritt (1G, 1A) scored on a wonderful individual effort with two minutes to play in the third to give the Wildcats the win after junior Teddy Griffin (1G, 1A) buried a feed from classmate Tomas Mazura (1G, 1A) to tie the game midway through the frame. KUA started well, as Mazura finished a nice passing play with linemate Zach Whitehead just six minutes into the game. Two minutes later, senior Seth Stadheim scored off a rebound to give KUA the two-goal lead. Andover answered back with a goal of its own late in the first, but on the first shift of the second, senior Drew Bennett tipped home a Christian Felton shot to put KUA up 3-1. Andover then scored three straight to take the lead late in the second, setting up the third-period comeback for the Wildcats. Junior goalies Zach Paputsakis (9 saves) and Veeti Kohvakka (12 saves) split the duties in net.
