KUA holds off Andover

KUA got their second straight win at home on Saturday against Phillips Andover Academy. It was a tight game between these evenly matched teams. In the first half, KUA struggled to rebound the ball, but were still able to go into the half up 31-30. Midway through the second half, Andover went up by 8 points. KUA chipped away to close the gap between the two teams. Catherine Beaupre and Jenna Santos both had strong performances, always finding a way to score in the paint. Maddy Haynes also had a notable game on both sides of the ball. With 37 seconds left, KUA had a sideline inbound. They inbounded the ball, passed up a shot, and ended up turning over the ball. On the ensuing possession, KUA forced a turnover; however, they quickly handed over the ball due to Andover’s hard pressing defense. Andover had a chance to take the win with 2.3 seconds left in the game. They attempted to inbound the ball of the back of Maddie Hastings, but Andover was not able to maintain possession, and time ran out. With a nail-biting finish, KUA won with the final score 54-53. KUA has three games on the road this week and they travel to Deerfield first on Wednesday.
