Wildcats Earn Big Road Win at Tilton

Behind 38 saves and an assist from junior goalie Veeti Kohvakka, the Kimball Union Wildcats topped the Tilton Rams on Friday in a match-up between two of New England’s top five teams. A back-and-forth first period saw KUA take a 3-2 lead into the locker room on goals from Sullivan Mack, Drew Bennett, and Paul Dore, who converted on a stretch pass from Kohvakka by wristing the puck past the shoulder of the Tilton goalie. KUA continued its strong play in the second period as Dore cashed in on the powerplay for his second of the game and Mack also tallied his second in the middle frame. Tilton pressed in the third period and got one goal back, but Kohvakka was excellent and kept the game out of reach for the Rams. Zach Whitehead, Tomas Mazura, and Brian Carrabes each had two assists for KUA while Kyle Penney and Teddy Griffin also had helpers..
