David P. Guest Jr.

At 3:30pm on December 31st, 2018 David (“fuggie”) passed away. He was a kind, caring man who was instantly loved by anyone who met him. He will be missed by many.

In his 87 years, David excelled at many things. He was a master in developing the first computer system for an advertising agency, Young & Rubicam, and ended his career there as a Senior Vice President after 21 years. He went on to build his own software business, Beaman Porter, and was a pioneer in the field of word processing. Retirement was not his thing and he continued to work in technology for 15 more years at Phelps Memorial Hospital where he made wonderful lifelong friends.

Service to the communities was of utmost importance to David. He was a volunteer fireman, a fire commissioner, and an assistant chief as well as an EMT.
In his younger days at Cornell he was a Phi Si and found joy in being a stand-up comedian, which later led to many years of acting with community theaters. He also wrote several short plays and novels.

David served the United States Military in Korea from 1951-1953 and is a veteran of that war.

His family was his number one priority and he leaves them with wonderful loving memories including special times with family and friends on ‘Burnt Island’ in Maine.
