Wildcats Capture Nichols Tournament

Five different scorers found the back of the net and junior Veeti Kohvakka made 22 saves as the Kimball Union Wildcats beat Rivers 5-3 to capture the Nichols Holiday Tournament in Buffalo. Zach Whitehead opened the scoring in the first period off a nice feed from Tomas Mazura. The score remained that way until the second when Sullivan Mack, off a nice pass from Seth Stadheim, made it 2-0 KUA. Rivers tallied early in the third, but Kyle Penney scored a powerplay goal for the Wildcats to restore the two-goal lead. Drew Bennett added another powerplay goal to stretch the lead and a Brian Carrabes, sandwiched by two late Rivers’ goals finished the scoring for KUA.
