KUA Beats Millbrook in Tournament Opener

Junior forward Brian Carrabes had two goals and an assist to help lead the Kimball Union Wildcats past Millbrook 5-2 in the opening game on the Nichols School Tournament in Buffalo, NY on Friday. Carrabes opened the scoring just a minute into the game after senior Seth Stadheim forced a turnover in the Millbrook end and found Carrabes in the slot, who beat the goalie to the glove side. Senior captain Kyle Penney made it 2-0 KUA with a powerplay goal later in the first. In the second, Millbrook sandwiched two goals around a goal by KUA’s Arlo Merritt, making the score 3-2 after two. In the third, Carrabes set up junior Paul Dore who converted from the slot to restore the two-goal lead. Minutes later Dore returned the favor, setting up Carrabes on a two-on-one to round out the scoring. Zach Paputsakis earned the win in net for the Wildcats.
