Wildcats shut out for the first time

The Wildcats faced off against Hillside School in a 30 minute mini-game and nothing seemed to go well. The play seemed quite even with both teams creating great scoring opportunities, but the first sign that something might be wrong came when Hillside was assessed with a hooking penalty five minutes into the game. Forty seconds into the powerplay, a defensive error lead to a shorthanded goal for Hillside. Then, in the next few minutes, KUA allowed two 1 – 0 breakaways. Goalie Tyler Wenning stopped both rushes, but, despite several shifts where the Wildcats peppered the Hillside goalie, KUA was unable to find the back of the net, and Hillside scored twice late in the game to win 3 – 0. This was a humbling moment for the Wildcats after a stretch of strong games, and they will need to wait for a chance to get back at Hillside as the teams will not meet again until late February.
