11/10/18: KUA at NEPSTA Championships

The race was hosted by Canterbury School and Kingswood Oxford School.
This season’s hard work was on display at the NEPSTA Division III Cross Country Championships. The boys came in 15th place out of 24 teams and the girls came in 17th place out of 22 teams. Given the team’s thin roster, that is a stellar performance. Eleanor Ashton succeeded in using a gutsy, aggressive tactic to qualify for the Race of Champions, which will be held next Saturday at St. Mark’s School. She had her best performance of the season with a 21:31. Nancy Tran (25:23) and Rachel Xia (25:23) were the next two runners for the Wildcats, in the Varsity Girls’ race. Alisdair MacPhail ran a nail-biter of a race and missed qualifying for the Race of Champions by a mere 8 seconds with a new personal best time of 18:15 (which is an extremely impressive performance for a Freshman in the Varsity Race). Nate Brooker (19:19), Kohki Shinohara (19:37), Jon Bruner (19:45), and Benjamin Conway (20:41) all also had solid runs to contribute to the scoring in the Boys’ Varsity Race. Kimball Union did not have any girls in the Junior Varsity races, but they did have one boy- Alistair Man- who ran his best time ever (27:27)! We wish Eleanor the best of luck in her race next week!
