KUA ends season with a hard fought win
High Mowing were pinned back and defended resolutely, creating dangerous chances on the break. Eventually our pressure told and a well taken goal by Cole Gueldenzoph got the winner.
It was a bitterly cold afternoon for our final match of the season. KUA played with an attacking zeal for the entire match. After pinning High Mowing back at the beginning of the match, Jacob Hyjek hitting the bar and a number of chances, it was High Mowing who opened the scoring. A couple of their fast and skillful players scored on a breakaway. We carried on pressing them and bringing the game to them and eventually Patrick Hyjek got an important goal to bring us level just before half time.
The second half continued like the first. We pressed them high up the pitch and played with the ball around their goal. Creating chance after chance that would be missed or saved it began to seem like it might not be our day. Until the ball was played out wide to Tyler who put in a great cross to the back post where Cole Gueldenzoph made an intelligent run and hit a clean volley bottom right for the win. We held out the remaining minutes to win the game 2-1.
