Wildcats challenge the Pelicans

The Wildcats had another thrilling game on Wednesday afternoon against St. Paul's. KUA didn't miss an opportunity the second the game began. The defense was just as strong as ever stopping the skilled St. Paul's offense. With only a few minutes into the first half, junior Maddy Haynes recieved the ball from her teammates and rushed down the field. She quickly received a penalty kick after a fowl was made in the box. The PK was good making the score 1-0, KUA. The momentum only continued to build as the Wildcats moved on. However, the Pelicans were fired up and scored a goal only a few minutes later. Play continued back and forth. The Pelicans had many shots, but sophomore Jenna Santos was a brick wall, making diving and jumping saves. Haynes was able to secure another goal before the end of the half by popping the ball over the goalie. Again, St. Paul's returned quickly with a final goal to end the half, tying at 2-2. Neither team was ready to give up. KUA began the half hustling to the ball and pressuring the Pelicans. The constant pressure allowed the Wildcats to get the ball down the field where Haynes received another penalty kick -this time outside the penalty box. The shot made it past St. Pauls' defense and slipped past the goalies hands -making the score 3-2, KUA. The defense worked hard to hold off the Pelicans, however after many corner kicks and shots, one final goal was made tying the game at 3-3. Santos ended with 7 amazing saves. KUA looks forward to hosting Holderness at 2:30pm on Friday for Holderness Day!
