Leslie E. Bloomenthal

BLOOMENTHAL, Leslie "Les" Of Brookline, formerly of Sudbury, died peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the age of 75, surrounded by loved ones. Husband of 49 years to his best friend Sharon Bloomenthal (Friezner). Loving father to daughter Marcy and son Andrew, father-in-law to Wendy Bloomenthal, grandfather to Clara, and big brother to Nowell, Robert and the late Bernard. A graduate of the Boston University Law School, Les was a passionate and dedicated Boston trial lawyer for more than 40 years. He had a rare gift for playing the piano by ear, often resulting in many joyous song sessions with friends. He loved traveling the world, both on and off the beaten path, and his enthusiasm for collecting giraffes earned him the nickname "Giraffe Man." A running, skiing, boating and fishing enthusiast, Les spent countless summers in Hull, where he delighted in cruising on his boat, the "Anne Evelyn," almost as much as he enjoyed cleaning it afterwards. His wry sense of humor, whimsical personality and zest for living attracted people of all kinds into his world. Funeral services will be held at Levine Chapel, 470 Harvard St., BROOKLINE, Tuesday, September 8 at 10am. Following the burial, memorial observance will be held at the Bloomenthal family home in Brookline from 1-4pm and 6-8pm, and on Wednesday from 1-4pm and 6-8pm. Donations in Les's memory may be made to the American Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 135 Parkinson Ave., Staten Island, NY 10305.
