Wildcats Defeat Hornets

The Wildcats came out strong against the Hornets, Wildcats were able to dominate a majority of the play throughout the first half. Our midfields worked together and were able to keep the ball out of our defensive end. Lexi Bartlett, Maddie Hastings and Kirsten Watson were all a force on the field in keeping control of the ball and sending it up field to the forwards. Amalie Ball had the first goal of the game 15 minutes into the half with a scramble in front of the net. A few minutes later Molly Flanagan was able to tip the ball past the goalie from a nice cross ball from Elena Landmann, which put KUA up 2-0 at the half. Carissa Tambroni were able to maintain possession by moving the ball through the midfield and inserting it into the circle. 5 minutes into the second half KUA earned themselves a corner, Bartlett took the initial shot at the goalie that Flanagan redirected for Hastings to deflect into the net, it was a great team effort! KUAs defense worked hard and was able to continue to keep the ball out of our defensive circle. Hastings eventually was able to send a cross into the circle to Molly Flanagan. Flanagan then was able to dodge around the goalie to send the ball into the net, making the game 4-0. Carissa Tambroni scored her first KUA goal by carrying the ball into the circle, passing the ball to Flanagan who then sent it back to Tambroni, who one timed the ball past proctors’ goalie. KUAs final goal of the game came off of another corner inserted by Hastings to Tambroni who took a direct shot at the goalie in which Hastings rushed in to rebound the ball past the goalie. Proctor didn’t give up and put a lot of pressure on the KUA defense in the last 10 mins of the game however Taylor Coburn played well in her first field hockey game and was able to keep the shut out.

KUA will next face the Tilton Rams on Friday September 21 at 6:00pm at Tilton School.
