KUA Loses Close Home-Opener

KUA took on the New Hampton Huskies on a gorgeous and hot sunny day this past Saturday and fell just short, losing 1-0. KUA was ready to take what they had learned in the past few days of practice and put it to good use. Though KUA only has two subs, everyone worked extremely hard to maintain energy throughout the entire game. New Hampton, a much larger team, pressured our defense a great deal. However, they only successfully got one goal past our defensive line and goalie, Amelia Kieth (who had 9 saves!). Senior Sunny Sun anchored the defense, forcing Huskie offensive players and balls wide and down the sides of the field. Newcomer Hannah Wiczek tested out new skills such as aerial dribbling, jabbing and dodging Huskie players, which helped KUA move the ball down the field. Casey McCauley took several successful drives and Ellie Clark held the midfield line strong. The entire team worked hard throughout the duration of the game and should be proud of their efforts.
