Tremendous Effort in Home Opener vs. Strong Pelicans Team

Coach Van Dolah
Wildcats fall just short in their hard-fought season opener at Akerstrom Arena.
It was a proud day for the Girls' JV Ice Hockey team. After only two practices, the team skated hard for all 45 minutes, and after falling behind 1-0 in the first period, they scored two unanswered to take the lead in the second period. Analena Connors tied the game at 1-1 on a snipe from the low slot after Katie Pierson fed her a nice pass from the goal line. A couple of minutes later, Bridget Clark carried the puck most of the length of the ice and put a wrister in the net for the go-ahead goal. The Pelicans then responded with two unanswered goals of their own before the final whistle. Every player deserves recognition for their contributions today, and a special shoutout to Jesse Nunan, Fiona Spence, and Eliza Connors for playing a few extra, and often long, shifts today and to our players who were playing KUA ice hockey for the first time - Lily Swidler, Scarlett Alexander, and Piper Laflamme. The Wildcats are back in action at Akerstrom Arena on Wednesday, 12/7, at 4:00 pm against Holderness School.
