KUA Drops Opener

In their first game of the season, a non-NEPSAC battle with Northwood School, the Wildcats came out on the wrong end of a 5-3 decision on Saturday in Stanstead, Quebec. After falling behind 1-0 after one period, the Wildcats tied the game in the first minute of the second when Kyle Murray-Smith buried a rebound off a Malcolm Baar shot. Mike Sullo picked up the second assist. Northwood answered later in the period and took a 2-1 lead into the third, where they extended the lead to 3-1 midway through. However, Baar responded on the powerplay, with assists to Murray-Smith and Sullo, to bring the Wildcats within one. An empty-netter gave Northwood a two-goal lead in the final minute, but the Wildcats kept pressing and Andrew O'Sullivan brought KUA within one with his first goal wearing orange and black. Murray-Smith and Jackson Kyrkostas assisted on the goal. A final Northwood empty-netter sealed the game, however. KUA goalie Dan Heroux played a great game, making 31 saves.
