Long Trip, Big Win

KUA traveled to Wolfeboro to take on Brewster on a sunny but windy and cold day. The 'Cats came out and were a bit sluggish after the long ride. The game was back and forth with many forced turnovers for both sides but the 'Cats kept the play in the Brewster half for most of the 1st quarter. They attacked the circle, controlled the ball and supported each other leading to many corners and sustained pressure. With 5:11 left, Ainsley Lonczak broke through on one of those corners and tipped home a drive from Lulu Leppard. For the rest of the quarter Brewster carried a lot of the play, but the KUA defense wouldn't allow any dangerous chances. The shots were taken from the outside and handled routinely by Stella Kozak. In the 2nd quarter the play was more back and forth, leading to a lot of play in the midfield. Caroline Daft was under pressure all game, and refused to let anyone past. She had countless block tackles which lead to transitions giving KUA some life. Defense leading to offense Lulu Leppard scored with 6:14 left in the hall to put the 'Cats up 2-0, and that is how the half would end. The 3rd quarter was carried by Brewster with KUA losing their shape a few times leading to shots that were canceled out by Stella Kozak. In the 4th the focus was on defense and support of the ball and each other. KUA played smart, sent balls to space for their teammates, defended as a whole and held the ball when needed. In the end Stella made 12 saves and the team got their first road win of the season 2-0. There will be a quick turnaround for the team, as they host New Hampton, Friday on Pope at 4:30
