Wildcats on the prowl!

Though Wildcats usually live on small prey, family weekend on Pope KUA's Wildcats feasted on Bull. In front of a large crowd filled with students and parents, KUA took down Holderness in a back and forth affair. KUA started off strong, working the ball deep into the Holderness end, creating chaos and chances in the circle. Just a few minutes into the game, positioned perfectly on the back post, Portia Berard scored to get the
Cats off to a great start and secure the lead. With lots of action and Stella Kozak making some timely saves, KUA was once again on the attack. After some nice passing plays down the right side of the field, the ball once again found its way to Portia Berard on the back post, who put it in for her second of the game, with under 4 minutes too play in the quarter. To start the 2nd quarter, after a late timeout by Holderness, the Bulls jumped out with energy, and finally broke through for a goal. It took some sustained pressure, and a corner for the 'Cats to once again assert their dominance. After receiving the ball, Ariana Ftorek sent a pass wide to Cam Callahan who swept it into the circle for Lulu Leppard to tip into the net. This was Lulu's first goal, and what a time to get it. Taking a 3-1 lead into the second half was a great spot for the 'Cats to be and they had no intention of slowing down. It took all of the defense helping out and Stella continuing to be outstanding for KUA to maintain their lead. The did a great job bending but not breaking, giving up only 2 corners in the final half, and getting the ball to the forwards to release pressure and reset. It took until late in the 3rd quarter for KUA to extend the lead on a goal from Ainsley Lonczak. Though Holderness would not go away, there was no way that stye were going to solve the Stella riddle on this day. Finishing with 15 saves on the day, Stella was the cornerstone of a huge win for the Wildcats on family weekend.

After a much deserved long weekend, the Wildcats are back at it and will host Deerfield Academy at 4:00pm on Pope
