Bus Legs did KUA no Favors

After a 3 plus hour bus ride with some eventful plot twists, the team finally arrived on the campus of Kents Hill. With just under 30 minutes to prepare, the girls scrambled to get into game mode and warmed up the best they could. At the start of the game, it was a back and forth contest that was not very crisp on the KUA side of the ball. There were many turnovers and passes that did not connect but the girls did their best to keep spirits up and work their way out of it. At the 9 minute mark, off a scramble, KUA was called for an infraction in the circle and KH was awarded a penalty stroke. Though Stella did her best, their shooter made a great shot and the lead was 1-0. After applying some pressure and turning the tide a bit, KH received a corner as the quarter expired, made the Wildcats pay and went up 2-0. At the end of the 1st half, KUA came to life with some good passing plays and offensive zone possession time. With just over 2 minute to play in the half, Ariana Ftorek made a rush down the right side and crossed the ball where Mallory Clark banged it home to bring the 'Cats to within 1. With the 2nd half being a back and forth affair, both teams did a great job clogging up the middle, so there were very few chances. The defense continued to do well for both sides until the referees decided to factor into the game, by giving KH another stroke. This time, learning form the previous stroke, Stella Kozak got her stick on the ball, but could not quite keep it out of the goal. After coach Whitt Called a timeout, the team rallied and got to work. The continued to pressure the KH goal, but couldn't break through, until a loose ball found its way to Ariana Ftorek, who banged it home with 1:47 remaining. If there was more time it was possible that KUA could have pulled even, but time ran out, and the girls had to get on he bus for the long journey back to The Hilltop.

KUA plays NMH on Wednesday at Pope field.
