Black out Game Shutout!

As the sun went down, the lights came on, the fans showed up and the girls showed out! There was a chill in the air and ice in the veins of the Wildcats on this first night game of the year! The Wildcats took on rival Tilton, and left no doubt who was the better team on this night. KUA controlled play from the first whistle until the last horn sounded. Lead offensively by Mallory Clark with the ice breaker and eventual game winner and Ariana Ftorek adding 2 insurance goals, it was a team effort getting Stella Kozak her second shutout of the season. In the 1st quarter the 'Cats stifled and frustrated Tilton, not allowing hem to get any momentum and rarely getting over half. Lulu Leppard and Ainsley Lonczak were key distributors of the ball, allowing the offense to keep their foot on the gas and not letting the Tilton D to catch their breath. Lena Connors and Cam Callahan made sure that when the ball was in doubt, KUA had pressure and created turnovers that lead to multiple corners. The 2nd quarter was much of the same with KUA getting on the board on a nice revers chip by Mallory Clark that went up and over the goalie.
The 2nd half was a dominant performance with only one blip. Tilton sent a long ball that squeezed past all of the 'Cats sticks somehow, and turned into a 3 on 1. With Tilton on the rush, Bridget Clark and Mary Parker hustled back to make sure that Stella only had to face 1 shot, then the ball was cleared. It was a tense moment, but one that was handled with no panic but everyone moving with purpose to preserve the shutout. In the end, this was a team effort, and one that proved to the team and the fans that this team is a group to be reckoned with in the Lakes Region this year.
There is little time t rest as the team will get on the bus and head to Kent's Hill for a game on Saturday.
