1-0 Defeat evens the season record

Another strong showing for the Varsity squad in a tough 1-0 loss to Proctor. After a short ride, the Wildcats came out with some bus legs and Proctor was on the attack. The KUA defense played well and made the Hornets take shots that were contested, all of which were turned away by Stella Kozak. Towards the end of the quarter the 'Cats got back on track and took some of the momentum back. Some nice passing plays leading to outlast and opportunities in the Proctor half. The second quarter was a back and forth affair, with both teams having chances in the circle. KUA did a great job of bending and not breaking when the ball entered the shooting areas. Michaela Cokinos and Mary Parker really protected the middle of the field when Proctor attacked the right side, causing multiple turnovers leading to transition chances. On the offense, Ainsley Lonczak and Mallory Clark were key distributors, allowing the forwards to be dangerous. As the half time horn sounded, both teams took a well deserved rest.

In the second half, it was the tale of inches. On the offensive side, KUA did a great job winning corners and just missed capitalizing on a few of them. Ariana Ftorek beat the goalie with a shot, but just barley missed the net.  Eva Rossmassler was alone on the back post for a cross, but couldn't get her stick on the bouncing ball. That seemed to be the way things were going, but the team never gave up the fight. With 15:23 left, Proctor broke through and took a 1-0 lead. Instantly, the 'Cats went back on the offensive, pressuring the goalie trying to tie the game. No one gave up and they gave it everything that they had, but couldn't find the back of the net. Though the team came up short on the scoreboard, they played an amazing game and have shown a lot of growth as a group over the past 2 weeks. The future is bright for this KUA team, and the future is now.

The 'Cats next game is 6pm this Friday 9-23, under the lights on Pope field. This is the first night game, a black out game, so if you are going to be in attendance please wear as much black as you can!
