Wildcats Win Season Opener

The KUA Field Hockey team came out strong in their season opener. Wildcats were ready to play an early afternoon game. The team immediately attacked the net and put pressure on Hebron's defense. With about 8 minutes remaining in the first quarter, the Wildcat's first goal was inserted into the circle off of a free hit by Lulu Leppard; Ari Ftorek then redirected the ball for the goal. Just 5 minutes later, Portia Berard carried the ball past a Hebron defender into the circle and took a shot that Hebron's goalkeeper saved. Ainsley Lonczak got the rebound off the goalie and redirected the ball past her into the net. Wildcats ended the 1st quarter 3-0, with the final goal coming from Ari Ftorek, who deflected a pass from Cam Callahan into the net.

In the 2nd quarter, the wildcats scored 3 goals with just under 5:30 remaining in the quarter. 1st goal was carried in my Cam Callahan, who sent a cross ball for Eva Rossmassler to redirect into the net. 2nd goal was a cross ball by Eva Rossmassler to Ari Ftorek, who deflected the ball into the net. The final goal of the quarter was off of a corner with time expired. Wildcats kept the ball in the circle, and Eva Rossmassler got a final touch to direct the ball past the goalkeeper.  

Wildcats were up 6-0 to start the 3rd quarter, which remained the score until the 4th. With just under 12 minutes remaining, the Wildcats earned another corner, and Cam Callahan inserted the ball to Michaela Cokinos, who ripped a shot from the top of the circle into the net. With a little over 5 minutes remaining, Caroline Daft sends a strong ball through the circle to Eva Rossmassler, who redirects it into the net. The game's final goal was a group effort and involved all new players for the Wildcats. Portia Berard put pressure on the Hebron defender, while Bridget Clark made a move to come up with the ball and cross it to McKenna Dockery, who took a shot on net, but the Hebron goalkeeper blocked it. Eva Rossmassler settled the rebound and deflected the ball past the goalie.
