KUA wins season opener against NHS

After Friday's match was canceled due to freezing temperatures, Kimball Union hosted New Hampton on a sunny, all-be-it cool and windy Saturday afternoon. The league changed the order of matches this year, so up first were the doubles. KUA took the one-point available by winning #2 (Merrill Doherty and Sarah Krause), and #3 (Izzy Gordon and Hanna Wiczek). #1 doubles pair (Emily Homma and Jane Strauss) fell in a tightly contested battle. The singles matches saw #3 (Merrill Doherty) pick up the first win, only to have New Hampton knock off #4 (Eva Graham). #5 (Hanna Wiczek) and #6 (Sarah Krause) notched two more wins for KUA, followed by a big win by #2 (Jane Strauss). The final match of the day to finish was #1 (Emily Homma) who had some epic rallies in her match but came up just short.
