GJVS Loses Nail biter to Bulls 2-1

Hastings
The GJVS hosted the Holderness Bulls on Saturday. In warm conditions, the Wildcats came out ready to play. The offensive effort, led by co-captain Caroline Sheehan and Julia Chedel, began developing plays supported by midfielders Margot Frost, Lily Hines, Skye McEntyre, and Misora Hashiramoto. The Bulls' offense was active in the first half, pressuring the Wildcat defense of Maddy Bridge, Fiona Spence, Ally Woo-Sam, and Taryn Boyer. In her senior game, Maddy was everywhere, disrupting plays and leading counter-attacks up the wing. The tenacity of the Wildcats began to wear down the Bulls, leading to great crossing plays. Eventually, in a scrum in front of the Bulls' net, Lyndsey Patten managed to find the back of the net, giving KUA the lead 1-0. KUA maintained this lead to half-time, with great play by Avery Holland, Caroline Spector-Townsend, Athena Werner, Eva Muneta, and Briana Angelli. KUA led at the half 1-0. Ball possession was back and forth in the second half, until a bad call by the referees gave the Bulls an unwarranted penalty kick. Holderness converted, tieing the game 1-1. In golden goal overtime, the Bulls struck quickly, winning the match 2-1. Game MVP goes to Indigo Kopp once again, whose amazing saves kept KUA in the match. Join us for the season-ender next weekend on the road at Brewster Academy.
