Wildcats Make a Comeback But Not Enough

Wildcats were on the road today at New Hampton School to take on the Huskies. It was a gorgeous fall day for a game, and the Wildcats were excited to be able to play. However, the Huskies were able to get on the scoreboard quickly with a player that got behind our defenders for a through ball, which created a one v goalie. The Wildcats did not hold back and put one in the net just a few minutes later. Eloise Davis made some great dodges to get around the last few Huskies and sent a through ball for Cam Callahan, who, with a hard sweep, sent the ball into the back of the net. The scored remained 1-1 thought the 1st quarter.

Wildcats put up a good fight in the 2nd quarter, but the Huskies dominated the scoreboard, adding two unanswered goals making it 1-3 at the half.

Huskies came out strong in the 3rd quarter, adding two more to the scoreboard, making it 1-5. Wildcats never gave up and kept putting the pressure on the New Hampton defense. Finally, with 5 minutes left in the quarter, the Wildcats were able to get another one on the board. Abby Flanagan intercepted a Husky pass and sent the ball into our scoring circle to Ari and Eloise, who had a small scramble in front of the net, eventually off a rebound from the goalie Ari Ftorek came up with the ball and scored, making it 2-5.

Wildcats were able to shut-out the Huskies in the 4th quarter. It was a great back and forth game with some great plays from Abby Flanagan, Ainsley Lonczak, and Molly Gesner in the midfield. Our defenders Lulu Leppard and Gretchen Dann played a fantastic game and definitely kept us in it. The final goal of the game came from the Wildcats, with just under 1 minute, the Wildcats earned a corner. Molly Gesner inserted the ball to Eloise Davis, who passed it off to Abby Flanagan. Abby took a shot towards the goalie in which Hillary MacKall redirected around the goalie into the net. The final score was 5-3 New Hampton.

Tess Boden and Amelia Keith shared equal time in the net for the Wildcats.

Wildcats will travel to Proctor Academy on Saturday, October 17th, for a 2:30 pm Game.
