Wildcats Score Big Win Over Cushing

Bryce Bollman tipped in a shot from defenseman Andrew Noel with 1:07 to play to lift the Wildcats to a 4-3 over Cushing Academy in Meriden on Saturday. With the game tied 0-0 in the second, Sean Donoghue set up Donte Pierre, who deked the Cushing goalie and slid a backhander through the pads to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. Cushing tied the games minutes later but Bollman scored his first of the game on the powerplay midway through the period to put the Wildcats back up by one heading into the third. A wild third period saw Cushing tie the game at two before Bollman tipped a loose puck in the neutral zone to Pierre 15 seconds later. The senior forward made no mistake on the rush, ripping a shot into the top corner to give KUA the 3-2 lead. With five minutes to play, Cushing again tied the game, setting the stage for Bollman’s game-winner. Goalie Veeti Kohvakka was sharp for KUA, making 35 saves, including stopping a penalty shot in the second.
