Teacher, Coach Inducted into Syracuse University Hockey Hall of Fame

Bill Diamond, the Donald P. Herzog ’48 Chair in History, was inducted into the inaugural class of the Syracuse University Hockey Hall of Fame last month. Diamond, who also serves as the assistant coach of Girls Varsity Hockey, was honored during a 60th anniversary celebration of the Syracuse ice hockey program.

Diamond, a defenseman, served as captain of the club team during his final year. He graduated in 2002. While at Syracuse, he led the team’s transition to a new rink, where he scored the first goal. He was active in all aspects of the program, participating on the Club Sports Advisory Board and assisting in the hiring of a new coach.
The inaugural class included members of the original 1960–1961 team and one player from each decade of the program. Current players honored the Hall of Fame inductees at a reception and expressed thanks for all the players who paved the way for their ESCHL Championship last season.
Diamond joined KUA in 2015 and lives on campus with his wife Jennifer and their two sons.
