Flick Gigs showcase talent of all varieties. From KUA faculty to performers connected to our extended community, these marquis events kick our Friday nights off right!
Throughout the year, Flick Gigs showcase talent of all varieties. Occasionally the dance or musical performers are KUA faculty, while other times the acts are connected to us through our extended community. This year’s Flick Gigs kicked off with our very own Kevin White, together with fiance Dallyn and supported by Mr. Lord, Mr. Creeger, Mr. Harris, and Mr. Copeland.
Our second gig of the year was a true rock concert with Tancred. Jason Bourne ’88 connected us to Tancred, as his son performs with the band as their bassist. Kelsey ’19, an Art Scholar, describes the concert:
I would describe Tancred's music as Weezer-meets-Green Day; it was guitar-heavy rock with lots of angst. The songs melded together because of their structure, and the band moved quickly from one song to another. I could tell they were strong recording artists, as they were clearly really talented musicians. My favorite songs from the set were Queen of New York and Joey, two of their lighter melodies made them enjoyable.
I learned a lot about the tech aspect when I helped set up the audio equipment. I really enjoyed that. It’s a really good skill for me to have because not all performers know how to do the tech side of their performance. That, I feel, is what the Art Scholar program is all about - learning different sides of the arts disciplines!
