Akerstrom Ice Arena
Akerstrom Ice Schedule Calendar
Located at the heart of the Kimball Union Academy campus in Meriden, NH (4 miles south on Rt 120 from Lebanon, NH), the Akerstrom Arena is part of the Whittemore Athletic Center. The center consists of 5 athlete changing rooms, 2 additional referee rooms, a full-size Olympic ice rink, bench seats for up to 250 spectators plus additional standing area for over 100.

Ice is available beginning of November, when the arena becomes home to all KUA hockey teams, the Twin Valley Youth Hockey League, as well as many other clubs and organizations from the Upper Valley. The arena is equipped with a state-of-the-art refrigeration system. This versatile arena can play to host a magnitude of different athletic events including hockey, broomball and figure skating.

From the beginning of March , the arena is transformed into an indoor playing field with a high-quality artificial turf. This makes it a perfect choice for indoor athletic events such as lacrosse, baseball, softball and soccer. In addition, the arena can be prepared to use as a facility for conventions, fairs, or other corporate events. We welcome private and corporate events both on the ice and on the turf. Our dedicated staff will ensure that any event is spectacular and memorable for the participants.

"The Barn" Field House Schedule Calendar
The Barn, located behind Whittemore Athletic Center, is one of the premier indoor playing surfaces in Northern New England. Field dimensions are 80 x 50 yards, surrounded by wall-to-wall protective netting. The facility is built with high quality turf that allows student athletes to train year-round and pursue their passion, even during the winter months.  The Barn is home to Lightning Soccer Club, a premier youth soccer club serving over 60 towns in the Upper Valley of New Hampshire and Vermont.  The facility is also available to other youth organizations at various times throughout the year.
Kimball Union Academy is pleased to make these facilities available to our neighbors and guests in the Upper Valley community. For more information about the arena and barn, or to arrange to host an event with us, please contact Athletic Director Mike Doherty by phone (603)-469-2142, or e-mail (preferred.) We look forward to meeting you as a guest, spectator, or athlete at our facility!
