KUA Piglets Have Arrived! 4/19/2010 With a nod to the agricultural traditions of Kimball Union, 6 piglets are now in residence on campus. Some will be raised to become breeders for next year's litters, while others will help feed the community. The animals will help make use of dining hall waste, and will help move us a little closer to a more sustainable way of life. Students will be part of the feeding, medical care, and general upkeep of the animals, who live between Bishop Cottage and the tennis courts.

Day of Silence 4/15/2010 On Friday, April 16, members of the KUA community may chose to participate in the National Day of Silence along with other students around the country. On the National Day of Silence hundreds of thousands of students nationwide take a vow of silence to bring attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in their schools.
Some students, faculty and staff who need to speak during the day, or who feel they are unable to maintain silence, but support the initiative may be allies. Both groups will be identified by colored ribbons. Participation is optional.
The National Day of Silence brings attention to anti-LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-gender) name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools. Each year the event has grown, and now hundreds of thousands of students participate to encourage schools and classmates to address the problem of anti-LGBT behavior. Founded in 1996, the Day of Silence has become the largest single student-led action towards creating safer schools for all, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. Find out more about the Day of Silence.
