Matt Tracey '07 Earns CFPA Elite Tight End Award

Matt Tracey '07, former Wildcat standout, has had an amazing career at Bryant University. This is the latest acknowlegement of his many accomplishments during his time on the Bulldog squad. Congratulations Matt!

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The best tight end in Bryant University football history and one of the best all-around pass catchers to wear the Black and Gold, senior tight end Matt Tracey (Littleton, Colo.) added one more accomplishment to his illustrious career as he earned the 2011 College Football Performance Awards Elite Tight End Award.

The goal of the CFPA is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. CFPA recognizes weekly, annual, and multi-season (career) award recipients – selected based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.

The following excerpt is taken from the letter sent to Tracey from the CFPA informing him of his honor:

"After an extensive review of the existing data, literature, and evidence, it was determined that you were responsible for the most overall team success among tight ends in D-I FCS college football. As a result, your performance satisfies the strict criteria CFPA established for recognition."

Named First Team All-America by Beyond Sports College Network last week and First Team All-NEC and All-New England back in December, Tracey completed one of the most accomplished careers in Bulldogs history in 2011. He finished his career as the programs all-time leader in touchdown receptions with 19, and finished second in catches with 105. Tracey caught 40 passes for 500 yards and eight touchdowns this year, including a nine-catch, 97-yard, two-touchdown game against Robert Morris on Oct. 22 that helped the Bulldogs upset the Colonials on the road. He finishes his career with 105 catches for 1,358 yards. During the season, Tracey was recognized as an Honorable Mention Tight End of the Week five times by the CFPA.
