Rob Grant, Boys' Rugby; Liana McHugh, Girls' JV Lacrosse

Rob Grant traveled to the Dartmouth College Rugby facility on Friday, May 2nd to take on the Dartmouth College Developmental side. Knowing that the opposition had been playing rugby since last fall, this did not diminish, in any way, his determination going into the match. He did not know every member of the Dartmouth side, but he was certainly aware of one particular player. This person was his brother whom he was slated to face, for the first time ever in his life, in a rugby match. Many a player would shy away from a confrontation with an elder sibling. This young man, however, was determined to not only take on his brother, but the whole Dartmouth side. His aggressive style of play and sure tackling was quickly noticed by the more experienced Dartmouth side. Although Kimball Union came up short on the day, clearly Rob made a profound impression on the players from Dartmouth. It was a great day of rugby, and it represented a KUA first.

Liana McHugh, a senior captain of the girls' JV lacrosse team, has been a major factor in the squad's success this season. She is the team's leading goal scorer with 11 goals and has been a major factor on the field, contributing in many ways to the JV's 5-2-1 record. Along with her excellent skills, she also humbly leads and motivates her teammates to higher levels of play. She is an intense athlete on the field and has a love for competition. A motivator, Liana was able to step into key situations. With advice and encouragement, helping the JV team win several games in the final minutes of play. Her quiet example and determination at all practices and games give her a leadership position that is admired and respected by all of her teammates.
